 My sweet Lorelei

I have not been very good about writing on this. Sorry about that. I keep thinking I’ll do better and then I don’t. You guys all came here for your last week of summer before school and spent the week with me. We had such a good time. You guys are also sweet.

We All went to a Steeler preseason game, and last year Bowen was able to get an autograph so you really wanted to get an autograph for your dad. So you and aunt Staci walked down to the field., And you told aunt Staci, my dad really wants an autograph, aunt Staci says everyone here really wants an autograph and you said, but my dad really likes the Steelers, and aunt Staci says everybody here likes the Steelers and then you said, but my dad only wants one. We were cracking up. You certainly want to get him his autograph. We did buy him a T-shirt, you were happy about that

We all got to go to aunt Sommer‘s to get our hair done and then two days later. Papa and I took you guys home. But the night before we were getting ready to take you home I was talking to aunt Sommer on the phone. Heard me say her name and you said Grammy can I talk to aunt Sommer before you say goodbye, so I gave the phone to you and you said to her I forgot to hug you yesterday aunt Sommer and I won’t see you until Christmas. You were very sad about that Which made us very sad. We did try to meet in the morning we left, but it didn’t work out.

The day after we dropped you off I was getting a hip replacement. You sent me a note. Good luck on your hip replacement and how was your ride home? And then you said, let me know when I can call you. How sweet is that? so you and I did talk after I had my surgery and got home, and you were telling your mama that you talk to me and she said I thought she couldn’t talk because of the tube that went down her throat and you said oh she always takes my calls. I sure try to take all your calls cause I sure do love them. You are so sweet. 

You will be 10 years old in two months, I can’t believe you will be in the double digits.

You sent me a hand made card when I had surgery, and it was so beautiful and there was so much love in that card. Actually I am surprised the mailman was able to get it to me bc there was so much love on the outside

 My little sweetheart, Lorelei,

You call me all the time and send me texts also, I am so honored to have that connection with you and I just love it.

I bought you a travel journal, it’s just a notebook for you to write things in when you travel. Your daddy get you guys to a lot of different places. Last year you went to Seattle and Hawaii. You sent me a copy of one of your pages from your journal, and here it is. I was very impressed. I thought you did such a great job. Well, I will have to add it later, I can’t figure it out. I will have your daddy help me when you guys come and see us.

 My sweet Lorelei,

You sure do love to FaceTime me and it sure makes my day. When you guys came home for Christmas, we had a snow storm about a week before but almost all of it was gone except on the porch. You guys got there in the dark, but you all got dressed and went out and played on the porch in the snow.

You were very determined to have aunt Sommer cut bangs on your hair. We had a girls day at the salon, and aunt Sommer gave you bangs . You were so excited, you kept looking in the.mirror and brushing your hair. That afternoon all the girls went to a play at the playhouse and you looked so cute in your new style

Later that evening you told your daddy that papa might not like your hair because he didn’t say anything. So, papa made sure to compliment your new hair do. 

Everyone went skiing and you do very well for only getting to do it a once or twice a year.

Today your school is closed because of snow and you guys really got some snow and you have been so very excited. You sent me a text this morning and said you will be going outside at 7:35 to play and you daddy has said you have been out several times today. I love that you love the outdoors. The best place to be

 My dear Lorelei

We were at your house about a month ago with our dog, Lucy. There were a couple times at your house. We thought there was something wrong with her, because she didn’t eat. Well, she passed away about four days later. She was full of cancer and went very quickly downhill. We did have to put her to sleep because she could hardly walk and she couldn’t eat. You were absolutely devastated. When we told you, Lucy was full of cancer, you asked if that meant you would never see her again and when I said yes, we both started crying again. You had such a hard time. And of course, Papa and I did too. She was such a good girl, at one point I was FaceTime in you and Keira was there and she says Lorelei has a lot of emotions. 

We did get another dog because we were just so lonely without Lucy, and you cried when we got a new dog, Maybe because you felt we were forgetting about Lucy. However, now you are excited to meet Miss Izzy., And I can’t wait for you to meet her.

When we were down at your house I put my phone number on your iPad so you can text me now and it has been so wonderful. I just love it and we put Bryce’s Number on your phone too and you always are sending her text. You send them to aunt Staci also. We have the best time.

 My sweet Lorelei,

You have been texting me every day since we came home to ask how we are doing, and to ask how Papa is after we lost Lucy. You are always worried about us. And you always ask what we are doing and what we did all day.

One text you sent me was, you are amazing and beautiful and I love you so much and I hope you have a wonderful day today. Love you grandma and you are so cool. It cracked me up. I had to send a copy of it to your dad, and he wanted to know why you were buttering me up, haha

One night you told me you had a soccer game and you were very very tired and I said oh then maybe you could go to bed early and you said no thanks I’m good with my normal schedule.

You have been texting Bryce and aunt Staci also. I just absolutely love getting all your texts.

 My dear Lorelei,

You are such a sweetheart, Papa and I were at your house this past weekend and you certainly do enjoy us being there. We got to see you play a soccer game and you scored a goal and assisted in a couple other goals. You were very good. Every morning and evening we took a walk with Lucy and you would hold her leash. Lucy would not eat a couple mornings and when we got home we took her to the vet and found out she is loaded with cancer. You called me last night on FaceTime, and your little face was so sad. I don’t think you even knew what to say. You did ask me if you would ever see Lucy again, and I had to tell you no. Then, you just didn’t know what to say you were so teary-eyed, same as me. She was such a good girl, and we sure will miss her.

We were talking about Bryce, and I can’t remember what we were all saying, but you asked me. Oh no, is she in college already? And I said no she’s not, and you said oh thank goodness I was worried. You also have her contact info to be able to text her And you certainly enjoy texting all your family

Your dad gave you an old iPad so you were able to text me now and I just love that, you send me love letters all the time or emojis and it makes me so happy.

 My Dear Lorelei,

You are such a little sweetheart. We just celebrated Fourth of July at the lake house last week. You were so absolutely excited. When you got there, your grin was from ear to ear. And after you greeted me and hugged me, you wanted to know where Papa was. I told you he was at the neighbors house, so the three of you all ran down to see papa. You just love being with all your cousins and I wish we could spend more time together. It goes by so quickly. And we just don’t get to see you as often as I would like.

Aunt sommer was going to trim your hair. When the two of you were all alone, while she was trimming your hair, you were asking her all types of questions. How are you feeling? Are you able to cut hair? Do you go to your salon very often? your hair is growing, and I’m sure it will grow fast now. How many kids think to ask those kinds a question, because she went through cancer. You are very sweet.
